My year-long blog and social media internship at OhioHealth was foundational in preparing me for a communications career.
In this role, I supported OhioHealth's blog and social media channels by updating old articles and writing new ones, crafting copy for each social media platform, covering events live on social media, and participating in planning meetings.
Blog articles
From workout tips to family-fun things to do around Ohio, OhioHealth's blog aims to be a resource for a variety of health and wellness topics. I worked with the team to update old blog articles and write new ones, brainstorm new blog post ideas, use SEO search terms to improve search engine rankings and more. A few favorites that I wrote include:
College 101 Toolkit
Toward the end of my internship, I was excited to write the first three articles for a new series, College 101. This series is geared toward college students to help them navigate the next chapter of their life. I also interviewed two doctors who work at OhioHealth's office at Ohio University to get their tips and perspectives.
Social media posts
Most of the social media copy I wrote was to share blog articles on OhioHealth's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
I also covered events with OhioHealth's partners live on Instagram stories, such HOOFIt with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Hockey Fights Cancer with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
